The “Certified Trial Attorney” designation is granted by the New Jersey Supreme Court to attorneys who:
- have been members of the New Jersey bar for at least 5 years
- have completed a specified number of hours in continuing legal education courses in their area of practice
- have demonstrated primary responsibility for a number of actions in New Jersey courts
- have devoted a substantial portion of time to the preparation of trial matters
- have an unblemished reputation
- have passed a written examination covering various aspects of trial practice
